About this product

Reetha and shikakai steeped and worked into a solid bar so the traditional hair wash travels without a bottle. It will not lather like a sulphate shampoo — the lather is thin, and that is the trade for not stripping your scalp every wash.

Looking after it

Store on a draining dish away from the shower spray. Lather is thin by design — work it through wet hair and rinse well.

What we check before a product is listed

Four things we do not compromise on, because a handmade product is judged on all of them.

No preservatives in food
Pickles are cured with oil and salt, not vinegar and stabilisers. Bakery is dispatched within a week of baking.
Azo-free dyes in textiles
Reactive and natural dyes only, printed and dried in shade so the colour bonds to the fibre instead of sitting on it.
Cure times are respected
Six weeks for cold-process soap, four weeks for pickle, three weeks for lemon. Shortening these is how a handmade product is made to look handmade.
Batch-tested where it matters
Honey, ghee and spices are tested for adulteration before packing, and the report is available on request.

It did not lather much. Am I using it wrong?

No — reetha does not foam the way a sulphate shampoo does. Thin lather is normal and it still cleans.

Will it work on hard water?

Hard water makes any soap-based wash feel rougher. Follow with a dilute lemon or vinegar rinse if your water is very hard.

Who actually makes these products?

Women-led Self Help Groups registered under NRLM, working from their own villages. Every product page names the group, the village and the district it came from, and you can read the full group story on its own page.
