About this product
Collected from wild colonies in the Bastar forests using smoke and no fire, leaving the brood comb so the colony survives. The honey is strained through muslin and jarred. It sets in winter, which is what unheated honey does, and it tastes of whatever was flowering that month — so no two batches are identical.
Looking after it
If it sets solid, stand the jar in warm water. Never microwave honey — it destroys exactly what you paid for.

What we check before a product is listed
Four things we do not compromise on, because a handmade product is judged on all of them.
No preservatives in food
Pickles are cured with oil and salt, not vinegar and stabilisers. Bakery is dispatched within a week of baking.
Azo-free dyes in textiles
Reactive and natural dyes only, printed and dried in shade so the colour bonds to the fibre instead of sitting on it.
Cure times are respected
Six weeks for cold-process soap, four weeks for pickle, three weeks for lemon. Shortening these is how a handmade product is made to look handmade.
Batch-tested where it matters
Honey, ghee and spices are tested for adulteration before packing, and the report is available on request.

No — crystallisation is the clearest sign that honey has not been heated or blended. Stand the jar in a bowl of warm water and it will return to liquid.
How do I know it is pure?
Every batch is tested before jarring and the test report is available on request. The collection date and forest range are printed on the label so the batch can be traced.
Who actually makes these products?
Women-led Self Help Groups registered under NRLM, working from their own villages. Every product page names the group, the village and the district it came from, and you can read the full group story on its own page.
How is a Saahvi price worked out?
The group quotes a price that covers its material cost and the wage it wants to pay. We add packing, courier and our commission on top and show the split. Groups can change their quote at any time, and we do not negotiate it downwards.
How long will my order take?
